BIOL 006 Microbes and Society Lab

Microbes and Society provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how microbes impact various aspects of life, including health, food production, environmental processes, and biotechnology. This hands-on lab course introduces fundamental microbiological techniques, including aseptic handling, microscopy, and microbial culture methods. Students will classify and identify microorganisms using staining procedures, biochemical tests, and selective media. Experiments will explore microbial control methods, such as antibiotics and disinfectants, with real-world applications in food safety, public health, and environmental microbiology. Emphasizing scientific analysis, students will maintain detailed lab notebooks and apply the Scientific Method to investigate microbiological phenomena.
