PSYC 201 Intro to Mental Health Service
In this course, students will examine, describe, analyze, and evaluate a variety of perspectives and contextual factors used to explore issues and concepts related to mental health illness, treatment, and professional service to children, adults, students, and families. The course will introduce students to ethics, multiculturalism, counseling relationships, individual, family, and group therapy, research, testing, assessment, consultation and supervision, public policy, and cross-cultural research, theories, and perspectives of the counseling profession. The course material will also focus on understanding and evaluating how age, sex, race, gender, sexual orientation, societal attitudes, and public policy impact access to mental health treatment and service for diverse populations and historically marginalized groups.
