Admissions Process
Admissions Process for New, Returning, and Transfer Students
Start by completing an application on our website:
https://dacc.edu/applicationstudent-information-form
Processing takes 3-5 business days and then students will receive an email with steps that need to be completed to register for classes. (Please keep in mind that some programs have their own separate application and acceptance into the college does not mean the student has been accepted into the desired program. See Selective Admission Programs for more information.)
Admissions steps are as follows:
- Set up your myDACC account through our Account Management Portal. Instructions to activate an account can be found on the portal's main page. Within your myDACC account you will need to complete the following:
- Accept the Annual Notice Agreement. This must be completed prior to registration, once a year.
- Complete a New Student Orientation. This must be completed prior to registration.
- Send all official transcripts. Please contact the relevant school to confirm their sending process. Transcripts must be sent directly from the school to records@dacc.edu or mailed to the Records Office. All transcripts must be on file in the Records Office to receive Financial Aid.
- Some form of placement. One of the following, or a combination, must be completed:
- DACC Placement Test - Students can schedule a test through the Testing Center's home page or by calling 217-443-8708.
- College transcripts evaluated and relevant credits transferred in.
- ACT/SAT scores sent to the Records Office. (For Recent High School Graduates Only)
Once these steps have been completed a student can contact the Advisement Office, 217-443-8750, to register for classes.
Important Steps To Consider
These steps do not have to be completed prior to Registration, but should be considered as the student works through the Admissions Process.
- Complete and submit your FAFSA form as soon as possible starting in December for priority consideration. The DACC School Code is 001669. You can monitor your Financial Aid Award Status on your myDACC account.
- Apply for scholarships with the Foundation Office. The application runs from January to May 1st.
- Explore myDACC and check your student email frequently as most communications from the college will come to your student email.
- Getting a Student ID Card - This will be asked for at various offices on campus, including Security and the Library. Stop by the Registrar's Office or complete an online Student ID Card request: https://dacc.edu/aac/student_id.
