HITT 106 ICD Coding
The course introduces the theory, structure, and organization of the International Classification of Disease using ICD-10-CM/PCS (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision,
Clinical Modification/Procedure Coding System). Emphasis is placed on the importance of body structure, procedures, application of coding principles and official guidelines for coding and reporting. The student is introduced to diagnosis related groups Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and their relationship to coding using the encoder. ICD-9-CM will be discussed as a legacy system only.
Prerequisite
Students must complete BIOL 136 and BOFF 140 with a C or,better before enrolling in HITT 106. Completion or enrolled ,in HITT 101.,TAKE HITT 101 previous or concurrent
