Middle College
Middle College at DACC began as a grant-partnership supported by Vermilion Healthcare Foundation and DACC in 2009.
Middle College is designed for high school juniors and seniors who are at-risk of dropping out of high school. They may have had a history of academic success, but may have run into barriers to high school completion. Students take all of their classes at DACC, but are enrolled as current students of their home high school. Every student has their own schedule similar to a college student. The students’ classes are scheduled based on the credits needed for graduation as dictated by their home high school counselor.
Intensive Case Management and partnerships are the backbone of the program’s success. We have a holistic approach to working with students and believe in the wrap-around process, which means the parent or legal guardian has to be on board if the student is going to be successful. All applicants must be recommended by their home high school. If a student is recommended, they will then go through a formal interview with the Middle College team to determine if they are a good fit for the program.
