2026-2027 Catalog

Early College

Dual credit programs are offered for junior and senior high school students to take college-level courses and receive college and high school credits. The completed courses and grades are recorded on both the high school transcript and college transcript. The courses must be approved by the high school in advance. See Admissions Requirements for High School Students for more information about the Admissions Process and entry requirements.

DACC Offers 3 Options for High School Students:

Dual Credit - Students take courses at DACC (day or night), online, or at the high school, during their high school day. Courses are transfer and career oriented. They will appear on a student's high school transcript. See the Tuition & Fees page on our website for information on pricing: https://dacc.edu/tuition-fees

Dual Enrollment (College Credit Only) - In some instances, the high school prefers not to count the college credit earned as high school credit. Therefore the credit will not appear on the high school transcript. The credit earned will be for college credit only. With Dual Enrollment/College Credit Only, the College does not apply a discount and the student is responsible for 100% of the tuition and fees. Students must also have a “High School Permission for Enrollment at DACC” form completed before enrolling in a Dual Enrollment course. See the Tuition & Fees page on our website for information on pricing: https://dacc.edu/tuition-fees

College Express - 16 Career Programs offered in partnership with the high schools and VVEDS. Students are transported to DACC for classes. College Express is free for Vermilion County high school students. College Express has a separate application process where the student selects their area of interest. A student can speak to their high school counselor for more information.

Guidelines to Keep in Mind

Any courses taken, regardless of area, will be more rigorous than typical high school courses. Course requirements, assignments, and timeframes will reflect the demands of a college-level course. Developmental courses are not eligible for dual credit. Students are required to take any placement assessments and prerequisites necessary for the chosen college course. The College has established a list of multiple measures to help place students into the appropriate course-level: the college’s ACCUPLACER placement assessment, ACT and SAT scores, and, in some cases, recent high school cumulative GPA or high school coursework completed (for a few specific requirements). A foreign language assessment is required for enrollment in all foreign language courses above the entry-level DACC course.

General Education Core Curriculum (GECC)

At Danville Area Community College, the GECC Certificate is a 38-credit block of general education courses that provides a students with a seamless, affordable pathway that transfers in full to all Illinois public universities and many private institutions. This certificate can be completed by high school students and is designed for students who are interested in transferring.

The GECC includes required credits in:

  • Communication
  • Humanities & Fine Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Physical & Life Sciences
  • Social & Behavioral Sciences

Completing the GECC at DACC allows you to transfer as a sophomore and step directly into major-level coursework. This certificate represents about two-thirds of an associate degree and one-third of a bachelor's degree, giving you a strong, efficient start toward your four-year goals.
